Dew Tour 2010

Devin got SPECIAL passes to the Dew Tour in SLC again this year, and this year just like last year, they got lucky.

Those boy (Devin & Brayden) somehow managed to be in the right place at the right time. They had just finished watching one sporting event and needed to get somewhere so they asked a lady who worked there how to get to where they needed to go. She directed them to a line.

Well, that line ended up taking them to sit with the participants, their family, and getting them a spot on the floor at the event. Brayden was so excited.

Brayden was able to 'high 5' those who participated in the BMX event and talk to them. How cool is that?

For those not familiar with the Dew Tour, and since this is my journal, the Dew Tour features 3 sporting events with each sport consisting of several different disciplines:

BMX
Dirt: Riders will take runs on an all-dirt course made up of jumps of varying heights and distances. Judges will look for consistency, difficulty of tricks, and overall flow of each run.
Park: Riders try to put together the best possible run on a park-style course made up of spines, ramps, mini-ramps, wall rides and box jumps. Judges will look for overall flow, use of the course, linking tricks as well as difficulty of tricks when scoring a run.
Vert: Each rider will have a limited amount of time to put together their best run on this 80' wide half-pipe (BMX and skate share the same ramp). Riders will be judged on flow, height and difficulty of tricks.

Freestyle Motocross: The only motorized competition on the Dew Tour, FMX features a course composed of metal takeoff ramps and dirt landings. Riders will be judged on their tricks over jumps that allow riders to reach distances of up to 90'.

Skateboard
Park: The park-style course will allow skaters to showcase their technical skills as well as their ability to "go big". The combination of ledges and rails with larger park obstacles will bring out a myriad of different lines and tricks, which is what judges will look for.
Vert: Each rider will have a limited amount of time to put together their best run on this 80' wide half-pipe (BMX and skate share the same ramp). Riders will be judged on flow, height and difficulty of tricks.

Here are some pictures of Brayden at the BMX event.

Standing on the actual course at the BMX event.

After the BMX event, before the Motocross event, Brayden wanted to get his picture on the hills that they rode on.

I love this one with the crowd behind him on the stands. lol.

At first they were going to stay where they were for the Motocross event, but then someone decided for safety reasons they needed to leave to the stands so a motorcycle wouldn't hit them. Good idea if you ask me. lol.

The Dew Tour is a 4 day event, but since Devin is working and Brayden is in school, they only go on Saturday and Sunday. So of course they went back today. The best thing about only going on the weekend is you get to watch all the finals. The other days are the preliminaries.

What a lucky boy Brayden is. I can't wait for them to get home tonight so I can hear all about it.
