Check, Check, and Check

This weekend was busy, but all the yard working things I wanted to get done, got finished.

We finally finished the backyard! WOOHOO!

We had a 168 square foot area next to the brick wall that was all dirt. It use to be a garden, but about 2 years ago we got rid of the garden and we've been meaning to get grass ever since.

Why get rid of a garden you ask? Well, number 1, I don't really like to garden, and number 2, the neighbors trees have grown so big that our backyard doesn't get enough sun to grow a good garden anymore.

So, after calling to get pricing on sod, its was such a good deal instead of planting seed, we weeded the area, and then Devin got to work laying the sod. Now our backyard looks a lot bigger with this new area with grass. It's so nice.

After we had the shed built, I knew I wanted to put a pea gravel pile in for the kids. It's easier to maintain than a sand pile, no cats will go potty in it, and it's less messier and not as expensive as buying tons of sand.

It was a pain to complete, digging it out and bringing wheel barrel after barrel full of gravel to dump into the pit, but in the end, the kids love it. Especially the girls. Even Brayden has been spending time just hanging and playing in it with them. It definitely gives them something to do. I even stuck a small beach umbrella in the center to give them shade. They love it.

The last thing I really wanted to get done outside was the rock garden.

Between our driveway and the neighbors driveway is dirt. The neighbors originally were going to pour concrete in it and then did some of it, but never finished the rest. It just gathers weeds. Now, it is on their property, but they never have taken care of it, and I hate having weeds pile up in it especially since it's right next to our house, it drives me nuts and I hate feeling like we're that white trash neighbor. lol.

So, I had Devin even out the dirt across the entire strip, put down that black border stuff so the dirt wouldn't fall onto our driveway again, and then we put the kids rock collections back. It looks great. I will get some pictures and post them too.

Don't you just love having a complete weekend. I do!

It's always so nice to completer projects. Your yard looks great and what a great idea with the pea gravel instead of sand. I Hate sand for 2 main reasons 1. cats, 2. sand in hair.
