Sunday

It's kind of nice on Sundays... I don't have to worry about the kids begging to play with friends, or worrying about the friends who are going to call all day long begging to play with my kids; it's just our little family spending time together.

I always thought the kids we taught were 11 and 12 year olds, but as I started talking to them more, I found out they are 13 and 14 year olds. lol. It's funny to think that they are that old, because I remember teaching some of them when they were only 4 and 5 years old. Yes, I have lived in my same ward FOREVER!

We watched this little 9 minute clip in class... it's about this man who decided to take a short cut through the desert, even though the sign on the road says not to take the road unless you call the authorities first. Of course, he's impatient and doesn't. As he is on the road, his car breaks down, there isn't anything around and he is all alone. He gets out of his car and starts walking across the hot desert. Eventually he comes to an old abandoned town, he is super thirsty and spots the water pump. He runs over to it and pumps and pumps and pumps but doesn't get any water. He then find an old note in can over the pump that says there is some water buried underneath the rock and to use that water to moisten the pump, and then there will be an endless supply of water. Impatient and thirsty, he doesn't use the water for the pump, but drinks it himself. You then see an empty bottle and him lying on the ground in the middle of the desert, probably dead, and the clip is over.

As cheesy as the video was, it does make you wonder, how many times have you taken a 'short cut' in life, even after having several 'notes' (feelings) what to do right, only to have it end up bad? I know I have tried to take short cuts before that didn't end well. As impatient as I am, I have learned through experiences that sometimes you can't rush things along, even the little things.

What did you learn?

Madison and Chloe waiting for church to start.

After church activities, coloring on the sidewalk.

Chloe showing us how artistic she is. It ended in her wanting to eat the chalk.

Chloe washing herself with bubbles after being all chalky. It was seriously so cute to watch.

That is a great story/video/lesson/point to ponder. the Lord gives us commandments/notes/promptings for a reason...

Thanks for sharing!
