Hospital's Aren't Comfortable

Sunday night Chloe came down with some sort of stomach bug. She woke up and threw up everything and anything she ate. I figured it would go away by Monday night. But then Tuesday late afternoon came around, and now she wasn't having very many wet diapers, and she was still throwing up anything she would drink, which would only be the breast milk she would occasionally take from nursing. I took her into the doctors office after I had picked up Brayden from school only to find out that she needed to go to the hospital to start an IV treatment to replenish her fluids. She was getting dehydrated. So off we went.

Since babies are so chunky, you can't see their blood vessels in their arms or legs at all. They thought they had one on her hand, only to poke her and get nothing. Then they found one in the leg, but after getting the blood for blood work, it collapsed and they had to go to the other foot to put in the IV. It was definitely sad. She cried and cried.

After the IV treatment started, she stopped throwing up, and eventually had wet diapers. She still has diarrhea, but is more active, beforehand she was so lethargic.

I stayed the night at the hospital with her only to start feeling sick myself. But after a prayer to stay well enough to tend to her in the hospital, I started feeling better. It's amazing the power of prayer.

She got to come home yesterday night.

Today she is still being active and loud. She isn't eatting much still and still has a diarreha, but she isn't throwing up (probably because she isn't eatting), and has wet diapers. They said her appetitte should resume in a few days and the diarrhea should go away then as well. Being sick sucks.

Awe, I'm glad she is feeling better. So sad that she had such a tough time at the hospital. I'm sure that was sad for her and her mamma!
