Sadie's Here

I could not sleep at all the night before the induction. Of course I was excited, but I was also uncomfortable. I was nervous too, I kept thinking over and over again, I'll wake up, call the hospital, and I won't be able to go in.

However, at 5:30 am the hospital gave us a call and said they had a room for me. So we got up I sent my mom a text and asked her to come over. My mom came over a little after 6 am and we left for the hospital.

After which seemed like we hit every red light possible, we arrived safely at the hospital around 6:30 am, waited, and finally got checked into a room at 7 am.

They started the IV at 7:30 am, and the oxytocin at 8 am. Did I mention when we arrived at the hospital I was still at 1 cm, and 75% effaced. It was going to be a long day. Contractions however started about 20 min later after oxytocin but they were not to intense, yet.

Dr. Nance came into my room to see how I was doing and broke my water at 9:55 am to get things going, also casualing mentioning he didn't want me to go home today. That was good. lol.

Around noon contractions started getting stronger and more intense so I decided I would ask for the epidural around 12:30 pm. The anesthesiologist came in a few minutes after me asking for it too. Last time we waited for 30-45 minutes, which suck if you've ever had contractions. I didn't mind though.

At 2:30 pm I was at 3 cm and thinned out. Because I was finally thinning the nurse was thinking it would go a little quicker. That was finally something good to hear.

So I sent my mom a text and said, come on over.

Around 3 pm my mom arrived with the kids. They were so excited to be there. Ever since they woke up they had been waiting very impatiently and asking every couple minutes it it was time to come to the hospital. My mom knowing it would be a long time kept them occupied, not sure how, but managed to make them wait.

At 3:30 pm I was to a 4+.

The epideral had been making one side of me super numb. I could lift my right left still, but I couldn't even move my left leg. I was also numb up to my chest. So before the nurse left, we asked her to get the anesthesiologist. He came in and just said the tubing might be more to the left of my spine. He pulled it out a little and that did the trick. I could move my left leg again.

Two hours later (5:30 pm), which seems like an eternity when you are hanging out waiting to delivery a bundle of joy, the nurse came back to check me and I only had a little left to go. Luckily Dr. Nance called right at that time and she said that he better get here quickly. I was pretty much ready. So the kids all went to the window to look for his car. As we waited for him to return to the hospital, which felt like forever again, I could tell I was ready, there was so much pressure. Not unbearable pressure since I had the epidural, but I could tell.

Finally at 5:50 pm my legs were up and the doctor was coming in. Devin was rushing the kids to the waiting room, I was thinking over and over again, HURRY DEVIN YOU ARE GOING TO MISS IT. Devin walked in, and the doctor said, ok, let's do go.

15 minutes later (3 contractions and 3 pushes with each contraction) Sadie finally made her grand entrance. She was born at 6:05 pm. A messy little thing too. Weighing the least out of all my kids, 7 lbs 8 oz, but long, 20 1/2 inches. And of course, with lots of dark brown hair. This by far was the easiest delivery yet.
