Nightmare on 13th, Halloween, and Paranormal Activity - the movie

Thursday before Halloween my friend Amy and I took Brayden to his first ever Haunted House. We originally had planned on taking him to a not so scary one, but my sister and her boyfriend took their kids to the one we were thinking of, and she said it was so boring, no one was scared, and it lasted only 15 minutes, tops. So instead, we opted for a little more daring and scary one, The Nightmare On 13th.

National Geographic rated it as the 2nd scariest haunted house in the states, and Utah rated it #1. We knew it was going to be good, especially since we've been before and enjoyed it.

The entire drive up to Salt Lake Brayden was nervous and starting to get car sick. We kept telling him to relax and that it would be ok and it would be lots of fun.

When we got there, his nerves were really starting to get to him. He complained of stomach aches, and almost started crying because he was getting so nervous.

As sad as it may seem, it was actually pretty funny. We kept reassuring him and told him we'd hold his hands and he'd be ok.

Waiting in line there are a couple of people dressed up who scare you. Now, I love getting scared, but it was just to funny being there with Brayden to let them scare me.

Well, he made it through the haunted house with no bumps or bruises, and actually really enjoyed it. We all had a lot of fun. If you kept the wrist band on you get to go back on November, Friday the 13th for FREE. Yes, we have all kept our wrist bands, we want to go again.

Did you go to any scary haunted houses this year?

This Halloween season they kids actually got to dress up 3 times. Yes, 3 times. lol. Thursday they dressed up for school since Friday there wasn't any school - end of term. Then Friday was our ward Trunk or Treating since Saturday was our scheduled Temple Night. And then of course Saturday, being Halloween and all, you have to dress up!

Because Trunk or Treating is seriously only a 10 minute run around to each car trunk, it was pretty boring, so we did take them 'real' Trick or Treating on Saturday. We headed to a well known neighborhood and loaded up on even more candy. The kids had a lot of fun. Even Chloe had a blast. Telling everyone Trick or Treat. It was just too cute.

Brayden was a ... I don't know. He said he was an assassin. He picked out his costume from random costumes in the costume buckets. I have 3 buckets of Halloween costumes.

Madi picked out a new one at the store. She was a Geisha.

And Chloe, well, after that Halloween video that you've probably all seen on the blog, she wanted to be a Dracula, but since I don't have a Dracula costume, she went with a Renaissance Princess. lol. Madi was this one year and Brayden was a knight, they were to cute!

Last night I went to the movie Paranormal Activity with my friend Amy. I have heard so much about it, how scary it is, and how all the people in the audience would scream and jump in their seats. I was so excited to be able to see it too. My friend Liz went with her boyfriend and was telling us how scared she was, and how she couldn't sleep at night for almost a week.

When we got there, at first we were the only ones there. But after leaving to go buy some popcorn and water, and using the restroom, the theatre filled up with a good 10 people, not including us. rofl. So, figuring there wasn't as many people, I thought it would even more scarier, or something.

The entire movie in my opinion was a HUGE disappointment. Now I love scary movies. Yes, there were some parts that made me get a little butterfly in my stomach, but I never jumped or screamed or even got scared. I actually found myself smiling during the movie, laughing at certain parts, still enjoying it, but not being scared. And at the end of the movie, I actually started laughing. I mean, it was so set up I knew what was going to happen, and no one even told me about it. I had to laugh.

Listening to some of the people there, another man thought it was stupid, but a couple of people where actually nervous and scared. One girl was heard saying, "I almost pee'd my pants watching the movie." Seriously? I thought it was not scary at all.

Don't you hate when you go to the movie and then end up disappointed? I wasn't disappointed in the movie, just not being scared while watching it. lol. I was honestly more scared of Signs with aliens in it than I was this. rofl. Now I know different things scare different people. I believe in ghost and aliens and UFOs. But, I do believe in the power of the priesthood and so I have never been scared or worried about having a bad ghost, aka: Demon, in my house or around my family. But aliens and UFOs on the other hand, I don't' know, those are scary. :)

Now I can't wait to go watch The Fourth Kind. It opens tonight, but I think we'll go see it next week. Want to come watch it with me? Based on real happenings!

Leave your name in the DVD credits, watch the trailer, and more. Click on the image.

Did you ever see this movie? If so, what did you think?
