Versailles - Part 2 - November 25, 08

The Gardens at Versailles are incredible. You could seriously spend all day just at the gardens alone. There are so many fountains, ponds, sculptures and more to see. Unfortunatly, it was windy and cold, so my visit to the gardens were limited because I was numb.

Looking at the map, there were 32 "must" things to see. I only saw 10 of the 32, and that took hours to see because they are so spaced apart. The formal gardens at Versailles are almost 250 acres. Even though I didn't see it all, but I did see was incredible.

Here I am standing in front of the Latone Fountain and Parterre. My hoodie was on the entire time and blew off just before they took the picture of me.

This is called the Water Avenue. This path leads down to the Dragon Fountain and Neptunes Fountain.

A close up of the sculptures on the Water Avenue path.

You can't see much here, but this is called the Bathing Nymphs.

They are re-doing Neptunes Fountain. It was huge. The walk around the pond with the sculpture would probably take literally 45 minutes. You couldn't walk around it though because of the work, but I did manage to get a zoomed in picture of the fountain itself.

Another close up picture. This fountain is called Dragon Fountain.

A view from the top of the gardens before walking down the pathway. Absolutly breathtaking!

The Apollo Fountain. From here you can go around this fountain and walk to the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon.

This fountain is called Pyramid.
