Come on Spring

Can you believe this weather? I hate it. Warm to cold, cold to warm. Can't it just stay nice outside? We have so much work to do in our yard. Yuck!

We are finally getting our shingles on the garage today, and it's a good thing, especially since it's going to rain later tonight and tomorrow. Since our house and garage are so old, they use to put planks down instead of the roofing deck they use now, so if it did rain, it would rain right into our garage, through all the knots that are in the wood, and that would not be good. We have stuff in our garage we would kind of prefer not to get wet. We do have roofing deck on our house though.

This is looking up to the roof from inside the garage. See all those knot holes and spacing between the planks, we'd get a lot of rain inside the garage.

This is what the top of the garage roof looks like now. They will lay roofing deck on the lean to on the side of the garage because it's so damaged. The actual roof of the garage will be left alone, they will just lay the roof protection and shingles over it.

This is my long lean-to. It's the full length of the garage, so about 26'x8' in size. They will do a new roof deck and shingles of course, enclose the front and back walls, and put 2x4 hangers on all rafters to support the roof. We recently learned it's not done the right way and that we are lucky it never collapsed. Geez, that would have sucked. I'm so excited to have a real lean-to with door that will be able to keep things away out of sight. Can you tell?

As you might have noticed by the picture, I still have to clean out the inside, level off the ground in there, and put the gravel/pebbles down for flooring. We are not going to do cement at this time, it cost just too dang much!

Oh, and we still have to level out our backyard so they can put the shed up next week, and I still need to get the garden leveled off too so I can plant grass. I'm excited to rid of the garden and have a little bit more lawn. With our neighbors big trees, even though they cut them way back, we just don't get the sun we use too for a garden to grow good.

So, as you can tell, I'm really in need of good Spring weather.
